Topic 1:
Getting Ready To Learn
(Learning Style Inventory)
The first topic of UED102 course is about learning style inventory. But first what is learning style inventory? From what I`ve learnt so far learning style inventory is to help student determine which learning style they have. There are three types of learning style commonly used in the world. The three types are visual, auditory and kinesthetic. In this post I will explain to you guys all those three types of learning style inventory.
-Visual
Learning is one of the three different learning styles popularized by Neil D.
Fleming in his VAK model of learning. The visual learning style means that
people need to see information to learn it, and this "seeing" takes
many forms from spatial awareness, photographic memory, color/tone,
brightness/contrast, and other visual information. Naturally, a classroom is a
very good place for a visual learner to learn.
2)Learning Style: Auditory
-Auditory
learning is a learning style in which a person learns through listening. An
auditory learner depends on hearing and speaking as a main way of learning.
Auditory learners must be able to hear what is being said in order to
understand and may have difficulty with instructions that are written. They
also use their listening and repeating skills to sort through the information
that is sent to them.
3)Learning Style: Kinesthetic
-Kinesthetic learner if you have ever said that you learn best by doing something yourself. Occasionally called tactile learners, kinesthetic learning strategies need to incorporate a “hands-on” approach to whatever subject you are studying. What separates each learning style from the other is when and how that moment happens. For kinesthetic learners, the light bulb often goes off in the middle of using their body in motion to subsequently understand a new concept.
Based on
the result above I’m a visual learner. The visual learning style is a way of
learning or getting information through actions, images and video.
Topic 2: Goals
Setting
(Goal Statements – The Five Step Approach)
Goal setting involves the development of an
action plan designed in order to motivate and guide a person or group toward a
goal. Goals are more deliberate than desires and momentary intentions.
Therefore, setting goals means that a person has committed thought, emotion,
and behavior towards attaining the goal.
Time-management skills:
-are the skills that help you organise your time effectively to be more productive. Learning to manage your time effectively will benefit your career as time-management skills are useful transferable skills that apply to any job.Time-management skills include planning, prioritization, maintaining boundaries, organization, communication, delegation, stress management, and self-discipline.
Organizational Skills:
-are the
skills you use to keep yourself organised in terms of meeting deadlines,
arriving on time and being able to find information as needed.
1)Fixed-Commitment Calendar:
Provides
you with an aerial view of your weekly schedule. It can help you stay organized
and know what to anticipate from day to day. A fixed commitment calendar is
also a great tool to use for planning out your study time.

Topic 4: Memory, Learning And Concentration
1)Memory:
Memory is the faculty of the mind by which data
or information is encoded, stored, and retrieved when needed. It is the
retention of information over time for the purpose of influencing future
action.
2)Learning:
Learning is the process of acquiring new
understanding, knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, attitudes, and
preferences.
3)Concentration:
Concentration is an attentional process that
involves the ability to focus on the task at hand while ignoring distractions.
Exercise 1:
Using this chart,we can know how good our memory strategies.I got 2 point on YES (no.2&4) and I got 1 point on NO (no.9).
Exercise 2:
I'm using some of the same letters in front of words to remember.
Exercise 3:
Using this chart,we easily can know either we've good or bad concentration. As we can see I've good concentration.Exercise 4:
Exercise 5: Example how to use SQ3R: survey-question-read recite review.
Topic 5: Taking Lecture Notes
To take lecture notes, we should pay attention to the cues, key terms, and ideas that the professor gives about the test or the essay. And one more thing we should also date and title the notes with specific topics, and write them on one side of a loose-leaf notebook.
Benefits of taking lecture notes
include:
-Enhanced attention in class
-Easier understanding of the topic
-Quick revision
-Improved organizational skills
-Active learning
-Prioritization of important points
-Deeper understanding of the topic
3 types of taking notes:
This is just an example how I'm taking notes from my MAT's lecture in class using mapping menthod and sentence method, so that I can easily remember what had I learned before and when it was happended. With this notes, I can remember what I already forgot:
